fatpanda casino PDP Calls For Unity Against Polarisation As BJP Demands Action On Mehbooba's 'Anti-National' Remarks
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday urged a united fight against religious polarisation.
She warned of a potential repeat of the 1947-like riots. She emphasised that the majority of Hindus in India are secular and stressed the need to stand against forces trying to divide people.
“The situation in the country is not good. Leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru, Maulana Azad, Sardar Patel and Ambedkar made this country a home for all religions. Gandhi even sacrificed his life for it,” Mufti said, addressing party workers.
“But today, people are being pitted against each other, and I fear we are being pushed toward a 1947-like situation.”
Attacking the BJP-led government, Mufti criticised its alleged failure to provide basic amenities like jobs, education and healthcare. She accused the government of diverting attention by targeting mosques under the pretext of finding temples beneath them.
“In Sambhal, four innocent youth were recently killed. Who will speak for them? Anyone who does will be jailed, like Umar Khalid,” she added and pointed out that no one listens to the voices of dissent.
Mufti also highlighted a petition claiming the Ajmer Sharif Dargah was built over a Shiva temple, stressing that the shrine symbolizes India’s 'Ganga-Jamuni' culture, visited by people of all faiths for over 800 years. “Now, they want to dig up this shrine in search of a temple... how long will this continue?” she asked.
The PDP leader warned that if India starts oppressing its minorities, it will be no different from countries like Bangladesh.
“Our Hindu brothers are oppressed in Bangladesh. If we do the same here, what’s the difference? India has always been a secular nation,” she asserted.
Mufti also pointed out that former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi helped Bangladesh gain independence, reinforcing her belief that the majority of Hindus in India are secular. “We must stand up against this emerging threat to unity. We must live together, there is no other way,” she concluded.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir BJP leaders demanded action against Mufti for her "anti-national" remarks.
Former J-K BJP president Ravinder Raina called for serious action against Mufti, criticizing her comparison of India’s situation to that of Bangladesh, a country known for human rights violations against its minorities. “Her statement is condemnable. The world knows about the atrocities against minorities in Bangladesh,” Raina said.
“The J-K government should take a serious note of the anti-national statement of Mehbooba and her conspiracies. Action shouldbe taken against herfatpanda casino,” former J-K BJP president Ravinder Raina told PTI on the sidelines of a party function here.
